In this blog post we will go over one of our product portfolio named “Rollbase” and how you can get started with a pre built app from Rollbase Marketplace. If you are getting started with Rollbase his might be an handy feature for you. So lets get started with our journey.

What is Rollbase?

To put it in layman terms: Rollbase is a Rapid Application Development based PaaS Solution. What we mean by this is you can build your PaaS solution using Rollbase and Rollbase provides your RAD  experience. You create objects and Rollbase creates CRUD screens for you. How to try Rollbase?

You can try Rollbase in 2 ways. We have a hosted trial i.e. you just sign up and use Rollbase which is hosted on our cloud. Or you can download and install rollbase on your infrastructure i.e. what we call as Private cloud trial. Depending on whichever suits you – go ahead and sign up. I will be using our Hosted trial for this blog post. Head over to trial signup page here. Finish your signup and login to your account.

What is Rollbase Marketplace?

As the name goes Rollbase Marketplace is a marketplace which includes royalty-free business application templates. This marketplace will be growing with a number of ready to run Rollbase applications from our partners and will help you to easily start development. Rollbase Marketplace will help you to jumpstart your Rollbase development. You can check out he Marketplace here.

Logging into your account:

If you have finished sign up for a Rollbase hosted trial account, log in to your account with your credentials. You can go to http://www.rollbase.com and look for the “Log in to Rollbase” link and click it.

 

Creating Apps in Rollbase:

After you have logged into your account, here is how your Rollbase landing page will look like.

This landing page is showing getting started help because we do not have any applications created yet in our account. Once we have an app created, we will be presented with a list of our applications. Next, lets see how to install a pre built application from Rollbase marketplace.

Install Application from Marketplace:

Now lets get to the action. In your account landing page, access Global menu from the top left had corner of the page. It is also known as hamburger menu icon. From the Menu options, select “Install Applications” link.

This will open the Marketplace where you can take a look at all the pre built apps ready to be installed in to your account. When Marketplace opens, you will be presented with a whole set of applications. You can click on a application you like to know more about the application. For this blog post, i will be looking at Bug Tracking System application and install that. Here is the screen shot of BTS application details screen:

Notice there is a “Install” button. All you need to do is to click that button and this application will be installed to your Rollbase account. Go ahead and try it out. Once the app has been installed come back to your account landing page and refresh. Here is how your landing page will look like now:

As you can see we now get a list of our applications. And i see my Bug Tracker application listed also. I can just click on the Bug Tracker link and the application will be started. Here is the Bug Tracker application screen shot:
